What is a Segway?

The Segway Human Transporter is the first of its kind-a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled Segway sports high-tech gyroscopes that automatically respond to your body’s movements, “sensing” when it should speed up and slow down. You stand on a small platform between left and right wheels as you hold onto handlebars at a comfortable waist height. The Segway handles the balancing for you, so that you’re always upright as you glide through any environment. Segway of Healdsburg uses the new i2 machines! Is there a weight limit for the tour?

There is a recommended limit of 260 lbs. and we ask our guests to be within a reasonable range of this limit. Back to top

How far in advance do I need to reserve?

These tours fill to capacity on a regular basis, and for this reason we suggest you either book online, or call us in our office. We don’t want to fill our tour and miss showing you around. Back to top

What is your cancellation policy?

We offer 100% refunds on all tours if the reservation is cancelled more than 48 hours (2 days) before the scheduled tour. We do not offer refunds for any reason once we are within 48 hours of the scheduled tour. Back to top

Are the tours cancelled in case of rain?

No, our tours run rain or shine. We have ponchos available for anyone that needs them. Tours are subject to postponement under severe weather conditions. 100% refunds will be offered in that case. Back to top

Do we go inside wineries?

Yes, we do not enter wineries on our vineyards tour. If some customers desire, it is ok to have a small tasting during the ‘free time’ we offer everyone at some of our winery stops. Back to top

Am I allowed to take pictures during the tour?

Absolutely, however, your guide will take many pictures and video during your adventure and Segway of Healdsburg offers links to those pictures for viewing or downloading to our customers at no extra charge. Back to top

Can I rent a Segway without a guide?

Are the Segways safe for children or people with disabilities?

Although safely riding a Segway is relatively easy to do and learn, we do require that all riders be at least 12 years of age and are able to stand and walk. Each of our tours begin with a 20-30 minute orientation session. We will practice on the Segways until everyone feels comfortable. To ensure everyone’s safety, we require riders to:
  • Be able to stand on the Segway for a period of 1 hour.
  • Weigh at least 100 pounds (46 kilos).
  • Wear the helmet that is provided with the tour.
  • Sign a liability waiver.
  • Complete the Segway rider training and test ride
  • Respect road signs, pedestrians, bikes and cars for a safe enjoyable ride.
